Ice Baths & Cold Plunge Tubs — Handmade in Britain, Built for Serious Cold Immersion

An ice bath isn't a gadget — it's a daily tool for nervous-system regulation, post-training recovery and mental resilience. The science of cold-water immersion is settled; the real question is whether your tub can take 365 days a year of sub-5°C water, condensation, chiller cycling and full-body immersion without crazing, leaking or losing its finish.

Every Omnitub ice bath is handmade in Somerset from Omnigel — our proprietary built-up system of high-performance resins and protective agents, laid up in 7 layers as standard and up to 13 layers with our cold-plunge insulation upgrade. The result: a non-slip, warm-to-the-touch interior, an exterior that shrugs off UK weather, and a finish covered by a 30-year manufacturer's warranty.

The Insulation Upgrade — Designed for Outdoor, Commercial & Recirculating Cold Plunge

For real-world cold plunge — outdoors, in spa facilities, or wired into a chiller/heater loop — surface alone isn't enough. The insulation upgrade adds up to 100mm of high-density insulation across four sides plus underside-of-seat, sealed under three additional Omnigel layers and a structural exterior coat.

  • Holds cold-plunge temperature far longer — your chiller cycles less, energy bills drop
  • Eliminates exterior condensation — the gap between sub-5°C water and ambient air no longer pulls moisture out of the room
  • Insulation thickness from 25mm (light spec) up to 100mm (extreme/outdoor)
  • Round tubs ship with 50mm insulation as standard
  • Base insulation optional — adds height but eliminates floor-cold transfer for hard concrete or paving installs

Insulated builds are price-on-application — message us on WhatsApp or call to scope your specification and timeline.

Cold Plunge Sizes & Internal Depths

We make ice baths in four families — pick by use case rather than by size alone.

  • 1000 × 1000mm Stepped Square Plunge — 1500mm internal depth. Full upright cold immersion to the neck. The serious-athlete / dedicated-plunge-room spec.
  • 1195 × 825mm Rectangular Plunge — 1200mm internal depth. Standing or knees-bent immersion in a compact footprint. Fits through standard doorways.
  • 1500mm-diameter Round Soaking Tub — 1000mm depth, integrated seat. Ships with 50mm insulation as standard. Popular in outdoor garden installs and Japanese-style retreats.
  • Deep Soaking Bathtubs — 600mm depth, 1050mm to 1900mm length. The compromise spec: full-immersion ice bath that still sits in a regular bathroom footprint. Ideal where space won't allow a dedicated plunge tub.

Cold Plunge for Hotels, Spas & Wellness Operators

If you're a spa operator, hotel developer, gym owner or architect scoping a recovery zone or wellness facility, the standard catalogue is the starting point. We build to bespoke dimensions, integrate jet systems, chillers, fill/drain configurations and custom finishes, and we work directly with your specification team from brief stage onwards. Multiple-quantity commercial orders are welcomed with a dedicated project contact.

Frequently Asked — Ice Baths

How cold does the water get? The tub itself doesn't chill water — pair it with an off-the-shelf cold-plunge chiller (we can recommend brands matched to each tub size). Most users run at 2–10°C depending on tolerance.

Indoor or outdoor? Both. The insulation upgrade is what makes the difference for outdoor installs in UK weather — without it, you'll see condensation in colder months and faster temperature loss.

How heavy is a full ice bath? A 1000 × 1000 × 1500mm plunge holds roughly 1,500 litres = around 1,500kg of water. Always check floor loading on suspended or upstairs installs — we can supply weight-with-water specs on request.

Lead time? White stock dispatches same-day if ordered before 10am. Coloured builds run a roughly 14-working-day lead time. Insulated & bespoke specs are quoted per project.

Insulation Solutions

Designed for Indoor, Outdoor, Commercial & Recirculation

Take our standard 7-layer build up to 13 layers — for outdoor cold plunges, commercial spas, and recirculation systems where every degree counts.

  • 13 layers max Up from our 7-layer standard build
  • 50 mm popular From 25mm to 100mm+ depending on project
  • 80 % longer heat Held vs standard 7-layer build (at 50mm)
Additional insulation walkthrough — up to 13 layers, finished with a fully sealed exterior coating.

Where it earns its keep

  • Indoor

Optional on standard installs — our 7-layer build already outperforms acrylic and steel for regular bathroom use.

  • Commercial

Hotels, spas, glamping, wellness facilities — additional insulation reduces equipment workload and running costs.

  • Recirculation & filtration

Tubs paired with chillers, plant rooms or filtration units — extra insulation protects both the tub and the system around it.

If your tub is going outdoors, connecting to a chiller or filtration unit, or being installed as part of a commercial setup — additional insulation is available from Omnitub.

We take our standard 7-layer build and add extra insulation layers bonded with glass and resin, finished with a fully sealed exterior coating. The thickness depends on your project — from 25mm upwards to 100mm+ depending on conditions and requirements. The most popular option is 50mm, which holds water temperature up to 80% longer than our standard 7-layer build — a build that already outperforms acrylic, steel, and most other bath materials on the market.

Additional insulation reduces the workload and running costs of your equipment and prevents condensation issues caused by the temperature difference between the water and the surrounding environment.

Whether it's a domestic garden cold plunge, a spa hot soak with plant room recirculation, or a commercial wellness facility — additional insulation protects the tub and the system it's connected to.

Some domestic customers have chosen to add insulation to indoor installations too — and we're happy to accommodate that. However, it's worth noting that additional insulation is not necessary for standard indoor domestic use, whether you're using the tub for hot or cold water. Our standard 7-layer build is more than sufficient for a regular bathroom environment.
