Omnitub Deep Bathtubs & Seated Bathtubs
How deep is an Omnitub deep bath?
How deep is an Omnitub deep bath?
Omnitubs are designed around true deep soaking — far deeper than most other baths.
Non-seated Omnitubs:
- 600mm internal depth (60cm / ~23.6 inches)
- With an overflow installed: 525mm soaking depth (52.5cm / ~20.7 inches)
Seated Omnitubs:
- 1000mm internal depth (100cm / ~39.4 inches)
- With an overflow installed: 975mm soaking depth (97.5cm / ~38.4 inches)
To put that into perspective, most standard baths only allow around 300–400mm of water depth. An Omnitub gives you the ability to fully immerse your shoulders, chest and body — rather than lying half in and half out of the water.
The seated range goes even further. At close to 1 metre deep, it’s a completely different experience — more like stepping down into the tub and soaking upright, rather than lying back in a shallow bath.
Unlike traditional curved designs, Omnitubs are built with clean, square sides and a flat base. That means the edges are clear and defined, making it easier to position yourself, safer to bathe in, and more straightforward to get in and out.
That depth — combined with the shape — is what defines an Omnitub.
Does the deep bath come with feet?
Does the deep bath come with feet?
Yes — all non-seated Omnitub deep bathtubs ship with a feet kit included. The feet come in two parts: the first part is pre-fitted into the base of the tub before shipping, and the second part is hand-screwed in once the bath is in its final installation position. We separate the feet during transit so the bathtubs are easier to manoeuvre through doorways and around the property.
Seated Omnitub deep bathtubs do not include feet — you install your own supporting structure for these. In either case, all of the bathtub's weight must be taken through the base.
Do I have to use the feet provided to raise the height of the Omnitub?
Do I have to use the feet provided to raise the height of the Omnitub?
No — the feet are optional. Installed height varies widely across our customers, so you're free to choose what works best for your space. For example, some customers install their Omnitub at 800mm floor-to-rim for a particular design preference, and others at 900mm to align with a basin install. You can build your own sub-base in timber (or another solid material), or in some cases install the tub directly at floor level. See our FAQ “How do I install an Omnitub without the feet?” for the technical details.
Will an Omnitub fit through my door?
Will an Omnitub fit through my door?
In many cases, yes — but it depends on which Omnitub you’re choosing.
Non-seated Omnitubs can normally be turned on their side for access. When turned, the key measurement becomes 625mm, so as a general guide you want a doorway opening of at least 630mm to allow the tub through safely.
Seated Omnitubs work differently. Because of the shape and proportions, the smallest measurement is the actual width of the tub itself. So the doorway opening you need depends on the width of the tub you’ve chosen:
- 600mm wide seated tub → minimum opening around 600mm
- 700mm wide seated tub → minimum opening around 700mm
- 800mm wide seated tub → minimum opening around 800mm
In simple terms:
- Non-seated tubs: usually need around 630mm clear opening (because they can be turned on their side)
- Seated tubs: need a clear opening based on the actual tub width
As a rough guide, a standard internal door in the UK is usually around 720mm to 750mm wide, so many non-seated tubs will go through without issue. Seated tubs depend entirely on the width selected and the true clear opening available on site.
It’s also worth remembering that the clear opening matters more than the door leaf size itself. Door frames, skirting, tight turns, bannisters, radiators, and hallway restrictions can all affect access.
If there’s any doubt at all, measure the narrowest point on the full access route — not just the bathroom door.
Do I need a step to get into an Omnitub?
Do I need a step to get into an Omnitub?
In most cases, no — a step isn’t required.
Non-seated Omnitubs are designed to be easy to access. Despite the depth, the straight sides and flat base make it simple to step in and out. To give real-world context, even young children (around 5 years old) are typically able to get in and out comfortably without any step.
That said, some customers choose to add a step — not out of necessity, but because it can enhance the overall look and feel of the space.
Seated Omnitubs are different. With an internal depth of 1000mm (100cm / ~39.4 inches), they are significantly deeper and designed for upright soaking. Because of this, a step or raised platform is required to access them safely and comfortably.
In short:
- Non-seated tubs: No step needed (optional for design)
- Seated tubs: Step required due to the depth
It really comes down to the style of Omnitub you choose and how you want the space to feel.
What is an Omnitub deep bath made from?
What is an Omnitub deep bath made from?
Every Omnitub is built by hand in Somerset using a structured, layered build process.
At its core, each tub is made up of a standard 7-layer construction:
- 3 layers of surface finish – creating a smooth, durable, waterproof interior that holds its look over time
- 3 layers of reinforced structure – built up with strengthening material and bonded together to form a solid, rigid shell
- A structural boarding layer – adding stiffness, support, and long-term stability across the entire tub
These layers are built up by hand, one by one, to create a tub that feels solid, holds heat efficiently, and is designed to perform for decades.
This construction is what allows an Omnitub to be used indoors or outdoors, for hot soaking or cold plunging, without compromise.
Every tub is made to order (in any colour you choose), and because of how they’re built, each one is backed by a 30-year warranty for complete peace of mind.
I'm tall — which Omnitub will let me actually soak with shoulders submerged?
I'm tall — which Omnitub will let me actually soak with shoulders submerged?
Short answer — most people can achieve shoulder-level soaking in an Omnitub, but how that feels is personal.
All Omnitubs are designed around deep internal water depth: • Standard deep soaking tubs: 600mm internal depth • Seated soaking tubs: 1,000mm internal depth (upright immersion)
That depth is what does the work — not just the length.
Where it becomes subjective is how you sit, lean, and use the space. We've had customers over 6ft fully submerged in smaller models like the 1050mm, and others much shorter choosing larger tubs for more room to stretch out. There isn't a single "correct" size based on height.
In reality, customers choose based on: • The space they have available • Whether they prefer to sit upright or recline • How much room they want around them (width often matters just as much as length)
If full immersion is the goal: • Any standard Omnitub (600mm depth) will allow deep soaking far beyond a typical bathtub
How many people can fit in the 1600×800 tub?
How many people can fit in the 1600×800 tub?
Short answer — the 1600×800 is a one or two-person tub.
The 1600mm length and 800mm width give two adults room to sit comfortably facing one another, or inside each-other, without competing for space. The internal dimensions are generous enough that shoulders, legs, and elbows aren't cramped.
If you're planning to use the tub solo most of the time, the 1600×800 still works well — you simply have more room to move, turn, or float. Solo bathers between 5'2" and 6'4" report the 1600 length as ideal for full immersion with legs extended.
Do I Need Steps to Get Into a Seated Tub?
Do I Need Steps to Get Into a Seated Tub?
Short answer — yes. Because of the depth, a step or raised platform is required for safe, comfortable access to any seated Omnitub.
If you lowered your installed height by either raising the floor level or lowering the installed height in the space then this changes things.
Why seated tubs need steps:
Seated tubs have an internal depth of 1000mm (100cm / ~39.4 inches) — that’s the distance from the rim down to the internal seat. This depth is designed for upright soaking, but it also means the rim sits much higher than a standard bath. Without a step, entry and exit become awkward and unsafe.
Non-seated tubs are different:
Non-seated Omnitubs do not require steps. The straight sides and flat base make them easy to step into, even for young children (around 5 years old). Some customers choose to add a step for aesthetic reasons, but it’s not functionally necessary.
What should you plan for?
If you’re ordering a seated tub, you’ll need to arrange either:
- A fixed step or platform integrated into the bathroom design
- A freestanding step positioned beside the tub
- A raised plinth or tiled surround that effectively lowers the rim height relative to the floor
The exact configuration depends on your space, installer preference, and how you want the room to feel. Some customers build a stepped surround that doubles as storage or seating; others keep it minimal with a single-step platform.
In simple terms:
- Seated tubs: step required due to 1000mm internal depth
- Non-seated tubs: no step needed (optional for design)
- What to arrange: fixed platform, freestanding step, or tiled surround

Omnitub Whirlpool Baths
What Whirlpool System Options Are Available?
What Whirlpool System Options Are Available?
Short answer — every whirlpool system Omnitub manufactures is fully bespoke. Jet location, lighting position, control placement, pump type, and heater inclusion are all tailored to your exact requirements.
What can be customised: • Jet location — specify positions, or ask us to design a pattern after you've ordered • Lighting — LED positions and quantity set to your preference • Control panel placement — wherever suits your installation • Diverter switch location — if you're running multiple jet zones • Suction pump specification • Air blower — standard or heated • Water jet pumps — single or multiple, sized to the jet count • Jet fill location — if you'd like the tub to fill through the jets rather than a conventional tap • Tub height — adjusted to accommodate pipework, pumps, and access requirements
The air blower can be specified as standard (room-temperature air) or heated. Heated air blowers warm the air before it reaches the jets — particularly useful if you're planning long soak sessions or live somewhere cold.
All whirlpool systems are built by hand here in Somerset. Once you've ordered, we'll design the jet pattern and component layout to suit your tub dimensions, your bathroom layout, and how you've described wanting to use the bath.
This is a completely custom system — there are no off-the-shelf configurations. If you'd like jets in a specific position, or a particular control arrangement, we'll build it that way.
Send us a sketch of your bathroom layout, or describe how you'd like to use the whirlpool system, and we'll specify the components and positions before we start the build. WhatsApp, phone, or email — whichever suits you.
What Power Supply Does the Whirlpool System Need?
What Power Supply Does the Whirlpool System Need?
Short answer — a single 13-amp fused spur or switched connection, positioned within reach of the bath using the network cable supplied with the system.
Every Omnitub whirlpool system has one power connector. The pump and control unit connect to a single fuse box — part of the system we supply — which then feeds through to one power inlet in or near the bathroom.
Electrical specification: • 13-amp fused spur or switched outlet • Positioned within cable reach of the bath (network cable supplied with the system) • Must comply with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) for bathroom electrical zones • Typically installed just outside the bathroom or within Zone 3 if space allows
The fuse box we supply integrates the pump, controller, and power inlet into a single managed unit. Your electrician creates a fused spur from the ring main and connects it to the inlet point using the cable provided.
Most installations position the spur just outside the bathroom door or in an adjoining cupboard — wherever meets Building Regulations Part P and the 17th Edition wiring rules for wet areas. Your electrician will confirm the compliant location during first fix.
If you're working with an electrician unfamiliar with whirlpool baths, send us their contact details via WhatsApp, phone, or email and we'll talk them through the specification before installation begins.
Omnitub Shower Trays
What are Omnitub shower trays made from?
What are Omnitub shower trays made from?
The same material as our deep soaking baths — Omnigel®, our proprietary 7-layer built-up system finish over fibreglass, hand-laid in our Somerset workshop.
The material is: • Naturally non-slip — the texture is in the surface, not a coating that wears off • Naturally warm to the touch — no cold-shock when you step in • UV-stable — won't fade or yellow over time • Fully waterproof through the structure
Trays carry the same 30-year warranty as our baths.
Sizes: • Stock sizes are available online — straight from the workshop • Bespoke trays — any size, any drain position, any colour, made to your drawing
If you need a custom size or shape, send a drawing or sketch via WhatsApp or email and we'll quote it for you.
How Tall Is the Shower Tray — What Is the Overall Height?
How Tall Is the Shower Tray — What Is the Overall Height?
Omnitub Shower Trays have an overall height of 35mm. That slim profile is one of the reasons they install so cleanly, whether you’re fitting into a level-access wet room or replacing an existing tray on a tight floor build-up.
You’ve got two install options:
Bedded straight down — sit the tray directly onto the floor on a bed of adhesive or mortar. This is the standard approach for low-profile, flush-finish installations where you want the tray sitting as close to floor level as possible.
Raised on feet — we can ship a riser kit with adjustable feet if you need clearance underneath for the waste, trap, or pipework, or if you’re installing onto a suspended timber floor where access from below isn’t practical. The feet let your plumber set the final height precisely and make future servicing of the trap straightforward.
Every Omnitub Shower Tray is handmade in Somerset, so if you need a non-standard size, custom waste position, or any other modification to suit your installation, just send us your requirements via WhatsApp, phone, or email and we’ll work it up for you.
Omnitub Material & Build
Can You Add Extra Insulation to My Tub?
Can You Add Extra Insulation to My Tub?
Short answer — yes. We offer additional insulation as a factory upgrade, particularly useful for outdoor installations, commercial environments, and cold plunge applications.
Standard Omnitub construction uses 7 layers — adequate for most indoor residential use. When additional thermal performance is required, we can build your tub with up to 13 layers.
- 50mm insulation layer bonded into the laminate structure
- Other Insulation is available (25mm - 100mm or more)
- Three additional layers of glass blended with resin
- Omnicoat as a final sealer
- Total layer count: up to 13 (from the standard 7)
The amount of insulation we build in is conditional on your project. An outdoor tub in Scotland in winter requires different specification to a cold plunge tub in a climate-controlled gym. A tub holding chilled water at 10°C for 30+ minutes demands more insulation than one filled occasionally from a cold tap.
- Outdoor soaking tubs in exposed locations
- Cold plunge tubs connected to a chiller unit
- Commercial spa or wellness facilities with high daily usage
- Installations where water temperature needs to hold stable for extended periods
If you’re planning an outdoor or cold plunge installation, tell us the intended water temperature, how long you expect the tub to hold that temperature, whether you’re connecting a chiller unit, and what the ambient conditions will be. We’ll spec the insulation level accordingly.
Contact us via WhatsApp, phone, or email with your project details and we’ll confirm what’s required before you order.

What this means
You’re not choosing from a small selection — you’re choosing from:
- 100+ proven standard colours, or
- Literally any colour you want
In simple terms:
- Standard colours: 100+ options
- Custom colours: unlimited
If you can specify it, we can make it.
Can you colour-match to RAL, Farrow & Ball, or Dulux?
Can you colour-match to RAL, Farrow & Ball, or Dulux?

How it works
If you have a specific colour in mind, we can match it using:
- RAL references
- Farrow & Ball colours
- Dulux colours
- Pantone references
- Or even a physical sample
This allows you to tie your Omnitub into the rest of your space — whether that’s tiles, walls, joinery, or a full design scheme.
What this means for you
You’re not restricted to a fixed palette.
If you’ve seen a colour you like anywhere — we can usually match it and produce your Omnitub to suit.
In simple terms:
- RAL: yes
- Farrow & Ball: yes
- Dulux: yes
- Custom/sample matching: yes
If you can specify it, we can match it.
Is there an extra cost for a custom colour?
Is there an extra cost for a custom colour?
Yes — choosing any custom colour is an upgrade.
For Omnitubs, the cost is:
- + £350 for any colour finish
This applies to:
- Omnitub deep soaking tubs

- Any RAL colour
- Farrow & Ball / Dulux / Pantone references
- Or even have us match a physical sample
Why is there an additional cost?
Coloured Omnitubs are made to order.
Unlike white tubs (which are produced for stock), colour requires:
- Dedicated production time
- Individual colour mixing
- A separate manufacturing process from start to finish
It’s not a spray or add-on — it’s built into the tub during production.
What you’re getting
- A fully colour-matched finish, not painted after
- A tub made specifically for your project
- A consistent, durable colour designed to last
In simple terms:
- Custom colour: + £350
- Applies across: tubs and trays
- Choice: virtually unlimited
If you want something that matches your space exactly — this is how you get it.
How long does a custom-coloured Omnitub take to make?

We don’t offer physical colour samples as standard.
How to choose your colour
The best place to start is our online colour catalogue, which shows the full range of available options.
However, like any colour shown on a screen, it should be used as a guide only — lighting, screens, and surroundings can all affect how a colour appears.
Alternative options
If you want to be completely confident in your choice, you can:
- View the colour through third-party sample services (e.g. RAL, paint brands, etc.)
- Or send us a physical sample, and we can match to it directly
In simple terms:
- Physical samples from us: no
- Online colour chart: yes (primary reference)
- Want certainty? use a third-party sample or send us one
Are coloured Omnitubs as durable as white ones?
Are coloured Omnitubs as durable as white ones?
Yes — coloured Omnitubs are exactly as durable as white ones.
The colour isn’t applied afterwards — it’s part of the same build process. You’re getting the same structure, same finish, and same long-term performance.
What this means
- Same strength and durability
- Same suitability for indoor, outdoor, and commercial use
- Same 30-year warranty
- UV resistant finish — the colour will not fade over time
In simple terms:
- White vs colour: no difference in durability
- Colour: won’t fade
It’s the same Omnitub — just in the colour you want.
Can I have the inside and outside in different colours?
Can I have the inside and outside in different colours?
No — Omnitubs are not designed with two different finished colours.
How it works
The inside of the tub and the top flanges are the finished, visible surfaces — this is where your chosen colour is applied.
The outside of the tub is unfinished.
This is intentional, as Omnitubs are designed to be:
- Built in
- Surrounded
- Clad or panelled
What you can do instead
The external finish is created using your installation, for example:
- Tiling
- Panels
- Microcement
- Timber cladding
- Stone or other finishes
This allows you to match the outside of the tub perfectly to your space.
In simple terms:
- Inside & top edge: your chosen colour
- Outside: unfinished, to be built around
So while it’s not two colours on the tub itself, you still have full control over how the finished install looks.
Omnitub Overflows
Do Omnitubs come with an overflow?
Do Omnitubs come with an overflow?
No — only the waste hole is pre-drilled as standard.
This is intentional, as it gives you full flexibility during installation.
Why isn’t the overflow pre-drilled?
Most Omnitubs can have the overflow positioned on any side, and in many cases up to three sides depending on the design. Because every installation is different, it’s far better to drill this on site once final positioning is confirmed.
How difficult is it?
It’s a very straightforward job — around 1/10 difficulty. All that’s required is:
- A standard hole saw (typically 51mm–52mm)
- A drill
- Basic care and marking
That’s it.
Where do you drill it?
On non-seated Omnitubs, the bottom of the overflow hole is typically positioned at 525mm from the base (52.5cm / ~20.7 inches), which leaves 25mm (2.5cm / ~1 inch) to the top edge.
Once marked, you simply drill the hole with the hole saw and fit your overflow.
In simple terms:
- Waste hole: pre-drilled
- Overflow: drilled on site
- Position: flexible
- Difficulty: very easy
It’s designed this way so your installer can place everything exactly where it works best for your layout.
Does an Omnitub come with an overflow kit?
Does an Omnitub come with an overflow kit?
No — overflow kits are not included as standard.
All Omnitubs come with the waste hole pre-drilled, but the overflow kit itself is supplied separately.
Why isn’t it included?
Every installation is different — from layout, pipe runs, finishes, and personal preference. Because of that, we don’t automatically add an overflow kit to every order.
What should you do?
You have two options:
- Buy one of our overflow kits — all options are available directly from us and are selected to work perfectly with Omnitubs
- Use your own kit — you’re not restricted to ours, as long as it’s a standard fit
In simple terms:
- Overflow kit: not included by default
- Compatible options: available from us
- Flexibility: you can use your own if preferred
We keep it flexible so you can choose what works best for your install.
Can I buy my own overflow kit?
Can I buy my own overflow kit?
Yes — you’re absolutely fine to source your own overflow kit.
However, there are a couple of important things to consider to make sure everything works correctly.
What you need to check
- Pipe length: The distance from the overflow position down to the waste outlet is greater than on a standard bath. Your kit needs to be long enough to comfortably reach between the two.
- Waterless trap (important): You should use a waterless trap, not a traditional trap. This avoids issues with water seals, odours, and performance — especially given the depth of the tub.
When to consider our kits
While you can use your own, if you’re unsure on sizing or compatibility, it’s strongly recommended to use one of our waste and trap kits. They’re selected specifically for Omnitubs, so everything fits and works as it should without guesswork.
In simple terms:
- Yes, you can buy your own
- Make sure the pipe is long enough
- Use a waterless trap
- If in doubt, use one of our kits for peace of mind
It ultimately comes down to your installer, but getting this part right avoids problems later.
Omnitub Waste Holes
Does an Omnitub come with a waste hole?
Does an Omnitub come with a waste hole?
Yes — all Omnitubs come with the waste hole pre-drilled as standard.
The exact position of the waste is shown clearly in the product imagery on each product page, so you and your installer can plan accordingly before ordering.
Can the waste hole be moved?
No — the waste position is fixed on standard tubs. Changing the location would require a completely bespoke mould, which is a separate process. If you need something different, you can explore this via our bespoke options.
Can you supply the tub without a waste hole?
Yes — this is available on request. We can supply the tub undrilled, which is often used in more specialist setups, such as:
- Water recirculation systems
- Filtration or pump-based installations
- Custom drainage layouts
In simple terms:
- Waste hole: pre-drilled as standard
- Location: shown on product pages
- Changes: only possible via bespoke mould
- No hole option: available if requested
This approach ensures consistency, accuracy, and makes installation straightforward in most cases.
What is the size of the waste hole on an Omnitub?
What is the size of the waste hole on an Omnitub?
The standard Omnitub waste hole is 52mm diameter (5.2cm / ~2.05 inches).
Is this a standard size?
Yes — this is the standard size used on almost all Omnitubs. Realistically, 99.9% of customers use this size, as it works perfectly with standard bath waste fittings and installations.
When would a different size be needed?
A smaller waste hole is only typically required for more specialist setups, such as:
- Recirculating systems
- Pump extraction systems
- Commercial or bespoke projects
This isn’t common for residential installs, but it’s something we can accommodate if needed.
Can it be changed?
Yes — but it must be requested before production.
In simple terms:
- Standard size: 52mm (5.2cm / ~2.05 inches)
- Used in: virtually all installs
- Smaller sizes: only for specialist setups, available on request
If you’re unsure, just reach out to us on WhatsApp and we’ll point you in the right direction.
Omnitub Installation & Plumbing
How do I install an Omnitub without the feet?
How do I install an Omnitub without the feet?
You can install your Omnitub directly on a timber sub-base, or any other solid, level platform set to your desired height. Some customers install at 900mm to align with a basin; others recess the tub at floor level where there is space below the floor for the waste and trap to run away.
One important consideration: the base of an Omnitub is not flat — it has a deliberate fall towards the waste hole for drainage. To install without feet, pack the lower end of the base with levelling packers (or a similar product) until the rim of the tub is level. The weight of the filled tub must still be supported fully through the base.
Can I install an Omnitub myself, or do I need a plumber?
Can I install an Omnitub myself, or do I need a plumber?
Omnitubs should be installed by a qualified professional.
Why?
Installation involves several critical elements, including:
- Waste and drainage connections
- Proper base support and load distribution
- Waterproofing and sealing
- In some cases, electrical components
All of these need to be completed correctly to ensure the tub performs as intended long-term.
Can I install it myself?
Some customers do choose to install their Omnitub themselves.
However, this is entirely at your own risk. We do not recommend DIY installation, and it is the responsibility of the installer to ensure the tub is fitted correctly.
Important
Incorrect installation can lead to:
- Leaks
- Structural issues
- Poor performance
If any issues arise as a result of incorrect installation, this may affect your warranty.
In simple terms:
- Recommended: qualified installer or plumber
- DIY: possible, but not advised
- Responsibility: installer / customer
Omnitubs are a premium, built-in product — installation should be treated accordingly to get the best result.
Can an Omnitub be recessed or sunk into the floor?
Can an Omnitub be recessed or sunk into the floor?
Yes — Omnitubs can be installed recessed, sunk into the floor, undermounted, or overmounted.
Installation flexibility
Omnitubs are designed as a built-in product, which means you have full flexibility in how they’re installed, including:
- Fully recessed / sunken into the floor
- Partially recessed
- Undermounted (flush with surrounding surfaces)
- Overmounted (sitting above finished floor level)
What determines what’s possible?
The limitation is not the tub — it’s the installation environment.
Things that will affect feasibility include:
- Floor construction and depth available
- Structural support
- Drainage positioning
- Access for installation
- Waterproofing and build-up
What you should do
Your installer or builder should assess:
- The structure
- The available space
- The intended design
And confirm what’s achievable within your project.
In simple terms:
- Recessed / sunken: yes
- Undermounted / overmounted: yes
- Limitation: your building, not the Omnitub
If the space allows it, the tub will work with it.
Can Omnitub baths be installed outdoors?
Can Omnitub baths be installed outdoors?
Yes — Omnitubs are fully suitable for outdoor installation.
Designed for more than just bathrooms
Omnitubs are built to perform in a wide range of environments, including:
- Outdoor spaces (gardens, patios, terraces)
- Commercial settings (spas, hotels, wellness spaces)

- Prevent condensation issues
You can find more information on this directly on our product pages, where we include a dedicated video explaining the upgrade.
What to consider for outdoor installs
While the tub itself is suitable, your installer will need to account for:
- Drainage and waste setup
- Base support and ground preparation
- Surrounding finishes (decking, tiling, etc.)
- Weather exposure and access
In simple terms:
- Outdoor use: yes
- Hot or cold: yes
- Residential or commercial: yes
- Insulation upgrade: available and recommended for certain setups
If your space allows it, an Omnitub can be installed there.
What plumbing connections does an Omnitub need?
What plumbing connections does an Omnitub need?
Omnitubs are straightforward from a plumbing perspective.
Waste connection
Every Omnitub comes with a standard 52mm waste hole pre-drilled.
This connects to:
- A standard bath waste fitting
- A waterless trap (recommended)
- Your property’s existing drainage system
Overflow (if required)
Overflow holes are not pre-drilled.
If you want an overflow:
- It is drilled on site during installation
- Positioned to suit your layout
- Connected to your chosen overflow kit
Water supply
Omnitubs do not require any special inlet connections.
Water is supplied via:
- Wall-mounted taps
- Floor-mounted taps
- Deck-mounted taps (depending on your design)
Your installer will position this based on your layout.
For spa / system tubs (if applicable)
If your Omnitub includes:
- Air systems
- Pumps
- Lights
Then you will also need:
- Electrical connection (by a qualified electrician)
- Access for servicing
In simple terms:
- Waste: standard 52mm connection
- Overflow: optional, drilled on site
- Water supply: standard taps
- Systems (if added): electrical connection required
There’s nothing unusual about the plumbing — your installer will treat it like a standard setup, just with a deeper tub.
Can I fit taps directly on the Omnitub, or do they need to be wall or floor mounted?
Can I fit taps directly on the Omnitub, or do they need to be wall or floor mounted?
It depends on the type of Omnitub — specifically the flange size.
Non-seated Omnitubs
Yes — taps can be fitted directly onto the tub.
Non-seated tubs have larger flanges (typically 75mm–100mm), which provide enough space to accommodate tap holes.
Your options include:
- Deck-mounted taps (on the tub itself)
- Wall-mounted taps
- Floor-mounted taps
- Ceiling-mounted fillers
- Filling via the overflow
Seated Omnitubs
No — taps are not fitted directly onto the tub.
Seated tubs have a much smaller 25mm flange, which is not suitable for mounting taps.
Instead, they are designed to be used with:
- Wall-mounted taps
- Floor-mounted taps
- Ceiling-mounted fillers
- Filling via the overflow
Why the difference?
It comes down to the design:
- Non-seated tubs: larger flanges → suitable for tap mounting
- Seated tubs: slim 25mm flange → taps must be positioned off the tub
In simple terms:
- Non-seated tubs: taps can go on the tub or elsewhere
- Seated tubs: taps must be off the tub
Your installer will position everything based on your layout, but this is what each design allows.
Does an Omnitub need any extra support underneath?
Does an Omnitub need any extra support underneath?
No — Omnitubs are designed to be fully self-supporting from the base.
How they are installed
Each Omnitub sits on a level, properly prepared floor and distributes its load evenly through the base. It does not require additional structural support underneath.
In a typical installation:
- The tub sits directly onto the floor
- The surrounding structure (boxing, panels, tiling, etc.) is built around it, not used to support it
Base, feet & access
- Omnitubs can be installed directly onto the floor, or using feet if required by your installer
- Your installer should allow space for the waste, trap, and pipework beneath the tub
- This is standard for any bath installation
What about the weight?
Most Omnitubs are installed on first floors in standard homes without issue.
To put it into perspective:
- There are many baths on the market that weigh more empty than an Omnitub does when filled with water and a person inside
Full technical weights and specifications are available in the technical tabs on each product page.
Important note
We do not provide structural advice. Any structural considerations should be confirmed by your installer or builder, as with any bath installation.
In simple terms:
- Extra support underneath: no
- Installed on: standard floors (including first floors)
- Feet: optional depending on install
- Space: allow for waste and pipework
Do I Need a Separate Mixer if I Have the Overflow Temperature and Flow Control?
Do I Need a Separate Mixer if I Have the Overflow Temperature and Flow Control?
Short answer — no. The overflow filler with temperature and flow control is a complete mixer in itself. You don't need separate wall or deck-mounted valves.
There are two versions of the overflow filler:
**Overflow filler without temperature control:** You open and close the water from separate hot and cold valves — wall-mounted or deck-mounted. The filler itself is purely the outlet; all control happens at the valves.
**Overflow filler with temperature and flow control:** You control both flow and temperature directly from the filler itself. No separate valves or mixers required. The entire mixing and flow-control mechanism is integrated into the unit.
The version with temperature control is designed to simplify your installation — one point of control, no additional hardware on the wall or deck, cleaner sightlines.
If you've already ordered or are considering the filler with temperature control, your plumber connects hot and cold feeds to the unit and nothing else is needed for operation.
Send us a photo of your tub layout or installation plan via WhatsApp, phone, or email and we'll confirm which filler version suits your setup.

Omnitub Warranty, Care & Repairs
What warranty does an Omnitub come with?
What warranty does an Omnitub come with?
Every Omnitub is backed by a 30-year manufacturer’s guarantee.
This reflects how the tubs are built — designed for long-term use, structural integrity, and daily performance over decades.
A 30-year warranty isn’t a marketing line — it’s a reflection of how confidently we stand behind the product.
You’re not buying something disposable — you’re buying something designed to be installed once and relied on for decades.
In simple terms:
- Warranty: 30-year manufacturer’s guarantee
- Built for: long-term, real-world use
- Support: directly from us, the people who built it
For the specifics of what’s covered, see our FAQ “What does the 30-year warranty cover?”.

The 30-year warranty covers manufacturing faults and structural defects on your Omnitub, including:
- Loss of structural integrity
- Leaks caused by manufacturing defects
- Failure in rigidity
- Surface breakdown due to manufacturing issues
Every Omnitub is checked before dispatch through our quality assurance process, ensuring it leaves us fit for purpose and free from defects.
How warranty claims are resolved
If a genuine manufacturing fault is identified, we will:
- Replace the product with a like-for-like tub, or

What is not covered
Like any long-term product warranty, it’s designed to cover manufacturing — not external factors.
The warranty does not cover:
- Damage caused by misuse or lack of care
- Incorrect installation
- Normal wear and tear over time
- Damage from harsh chemicals, cleaning products, or external elements
- Modifications or alterations made after supply
- Any issues caused by incorrectly drilled holes or poor sealing during installation

How do I care for and clean my Omnitub?
How do I care for and clean my Omnitub?
Looking after your Omnitub is simple. With the right approach, you’ll keep it looking sharp, hygienic, and performing exactly as it should for years to come.
How often should I clean it?
- Light clean: once a week if used regularly
- Deep clean: once a month
Regular cleaning helps prevent build-up and keeps everything fresh.
What should I use?
- Non-abrasive bath cleaner
- Soft sponge or microfibre cloth
- Squeegee
- Dry soft towel
- Gloves (recommended)
How to clean your Omnitub
- Clear the area and remove any items from the tub
- Apply a non-abrasive cleaner to the inside and edges
- Use a soft sponge to clean from top to bottom
- Wipe away residue with a microfibre cloth
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water
- Dry fully with a soft towel to avoid streaks
For tougher marks (like soap rings), a mild cleaner or natural solution (such as lemon juice with a gentle cream cleaner) can be used.
Everyday care tips
- Use a squeegee after use to remove excess water
- Keep the surrounding area dry to reduce moisture build-up
- Regularly wipe down taps and edges to prevent limescale
Important things to avoid
- Do not use abrasive cleaners, pads, or harsh chemicals
- Avoid bleach or anything that could damage the surface
- Do not scrub aggressively
Using the wrong products can dull the finish and may affect your warranty.
In simple terms:
- Keep it regularly cleaned
- Use soft, non-abrasive products only
- Rinse and dry properly after cleaning
Treat it properly, and your Omnitub will stay looking as good as the day it arrived.
What cleaning products should I avoid?
What cleaning products should I avoid?
To keep your Omnitub looking as it should, it’s important to avoid anything abrasive or aggressive.
Do not use:
- Abrasive cleaners (anything gritty or designed for heavy scrubbing)
- Scouring pads / wire wool / hard brushes
- Bleach or harsh chemical cleaners
- Strong acidic or alkaline products
- Industrial or heavy-duty cleaning solutions
Why this matters
These types of products can:
- Dull or damage the surface finish
- Cause the tub to lose its smooth appearance
- Lead to long-term cosmetic damage
Once the finish is affected, it may require professional polishing to restore.
What to use instead
Stick to:
- Non-abrasive bath cleaners
- Soft sponges or microfibre cloths
- Gentle, regular cleaning rather than aggressive scrubbing
In simple terms:
If it’s harsh, gritty, or designed to strip surfaces — don’t use it.
Keep it soft, simple, and regular — and your Omnitub will stay looking right for years.
Can a scratched or damaged Omnitub be repaired?
Can a scratched or damaged Omnitub be repaired?
Yes — in most cases, scratches and minor damage can be repaired.
Because of how an Omnitub is built, the surface can be restored rather than replaced, which is a big advantage over many standard tubs.
Light scratches (most common)
Hairline scratches and surface marks can usually be removed with a simple process:
- Wet sand the area using fine grit sandpaper (start around 1200–1500 grit)
- Gradually move to finer grits (2000–3000)
- Keep the area wet at all times to avoid heat or damage
- Once smooth, polish the area using a suitable polishing compound
- Buff back to the original finish
This will remove the scratch and bring the surface back to a clean, consistent look.
Deeper scratches or chips
If the damage is deeper:
- The area may need to be filled first, then sanded and polished
- This is still repairable, but requires a bit more care and the right materials
Easiest option — Omnitub repair kits
If you’re unsure, or just want a clean, guaranteed result, we offer Omnitub repair kits.
These are designed specifically for the tubs and include what you need to:
- Fill
- Sand
- Polish
- Restore the finish properly
When to get help
For larger damage or if you’re not confident:
- A professional can hand-finish and polish the tub back
- We can also guide you on the best approach
In simple terms:
- Yes: it’s repairable
- Light scratches: wet sand + polish
- Deeper damage: fill, sand, polish
- Easiest option: use our repair kit
It’s designed to be fixable — not disposable.
What should I do if my Omnitub arrives damaged?

The quickest way to resolve this is to send everything over to us:
- WhatsApp (recommended) — fastest response
- Email: info@omnitub.co.uk
- Or call us if needed
We’ll review everything and guide you through the next steps.
Timing
There is typically a 48-hour window from delivery to report any transit damage.
This is standard for pallet deliveries, but if you’re unsure, just contact us straight away and we’ll advise based on your situation.
Why photos/video matter
We’ll usually ask for:
- Photos of the damage itself

Does the colour fade over time?
Does the colour fade over time?
No — Omnitub colours do not fade over time.
The finish is UV resistant, meaning it’s designed to withstand exposure to sunlight without losing its colour or depth.
What this means in real use
- Suitable for indoor installations
- Suitable for outdoor use (including full sun exposure)
- Suitable for commercial environments with regular use
The colour is built to remain consistent, not wash out or dull like lower-quality finishes.
In simple terms:
- Fade over time: no
- UV resistant: yes
- Indoor, outdoor, commercial: all suitable
You can choose any colour with confidence — it’s made to last.
Is the warranty transferable to a new owner?
Is the warranty transferable to a new owner?
No — the warranty is non-transferable and applies to the original purchaser only.
Why is this?
Every Omnitub is made to order and installed into a specific environment. From installation, handling, chemicals used, and general care — all of this impacts long-term performance.
Because of that, the warranty is tied to:
- The original order
- The original customer
- The original installation context
What if the property is sold?
If the property changes hands, the warranty does not transfer to the new owner.
In simple terms:
- Warranty: original purchaser only
- Transferable: no
If anything ever comes up, we’re always here to help — but the formal warranty sits with the person who purchased the Omnitub.
Which finish lasts best on Omnitub wastes, taps and shower tray fittings — especially with limescale?
Which finish lasts best on Omnitub wastes, taps and shower tray fittings — especially with limescale?
In real-world bathrooms — especially in hard water areas — not all finishes behave the same. The key difference isn’t just how they look, but how they handle cleaning, descaling, and long-term wear.
Here’s the honest breakdown:
Chrome — the benchmark
Chrome is still the most practical finish. Yes, limescale shows up clearly against the mirror surface, but that’s actually an advantage — you see it early and remove it easily. The surface is smooth, non-porous, and highly resistant to acidic descalers (vinegar, citric acid, proper limescale removers). It wipes back to perfect with minimal effort.
PVD finishes (all colours) — the modern upgrade
PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) finishes are extremely durable. They are harder than the base metal, chemically stable, and far more resistant to wear and cleaning products than traditional coated finishes.
If a fitting is PVD, it behaves much closer to chrome than to older “coloured” finishes. You get the look you want, without the usual downsides.
Stainless steel (316) — solid and reliable
Brushed stainless is tough and corrosion-resistant. It hides watermarks better than chrome, but the brushed grain can hold deposits over time, so occasional directional cleaning is needed to keep it looking sharp.
Matt white — visually forgiving, but not maintenance-free
Matt white tends to hide limescale visually (white on white), but the surface texture is slightly rough at a microscopic level, meaning deposits can cling more easily. Most matt finishes are coated, so aggressive descaling over time can dull the surface.
Brushed brass (non-PVD, lacquered) — more delicate
Traditional brushed brass relies on a lacquer to protect it. Acidic cleaners will gradually break this down, leading to tarnishing. The brushed texture can also trap deposits.
Matt black / brushed black (non-PVD) — the high-maintenance option
This is where most issues occur. Limescale is highly visible against black, and the finish is typically a coating or paint. Regular descaling can cause fading, streaking, or damage over time. In hard water areas, this often becomes frustrating quite quickly.
Bottom line
For long-term durability and ease of maintenance: chrome or PVD finishes are the clear winners. Everything else is a trade-off between appearance and upkeep.
Omnitub note
All Omnitub wastes, taps and shower tray fittings are supplied in PVD finishes for coloured options, with chrome and 316 stainless steel also available — finishes designed to handle real-world use, not just look good on day one.
