Why choose a deep soaking tub over a standard bath?

Why choose a deep soaking tub over a standard bath?

Omnitub |

What is a deep soaking bath?

A deep soaking bath is a bathtub built deeper than a standard bath so you can immerse your whole body to the shoulders. Where a typical UK bath holds water 300–400mm deep, a deep soaking bath runs 600mm and up — a full, hot soak rather than a shallow lie-down.

How deep is a deep soaking bath?

Every Omnitub deep soaking bath has a 600mm internal depth with a 525mm soak line — roughly double a standard bath. Our seated soakers go deeper still, to 1000mm. Depth is the whole point: it's what lets the water cover your shoulders while you sit upright.

Deep soaking bath vs a standard bath

Deep soaking bath (Omnitub) Standard UK bath
Internal depth 600mm (up to 1000mm seated) ~300–400mm
Soak Full shoulder immersion Half-submerged
Heat retention Holds heat — deep water + Omnigel build Cools fast — shallow, thin shell
Footprint Compact sizes that fit small bathrooms Fixed standard sizes
Finish Made to order in your colour (BS 4800 / RAL / paint-match) Standard colours

Why choose a deep soaking bath?

  • Full immersion — the water covers your shoulders, so you actually warm through.
  • Heat that lasts — a deeper body of water in the Omnigel built-up system stays hot far longer than a thin standard bath, so you're not constantly topping up.
  • Fits where a normal bath won't — because depth does the work, a deep soak can sit in a compact footprint and pass a 630mm doorway.
  • A genuine soak at home — closer to a spa or Japanese onsen than a quick wash.
  • Made to last — every Omnitub is handmade in Somerset and backed by a 30-year warranty.

How much water does a deep soaking bath use?

More depth doesn't have to mean more water — sitting upright, your body displaces a large share of the volume. Capacity varies by size; each Omnitub product page lists the exact litres, and you can check a tub fits your space before you order.
