Care and Installation
Please read these instructions completely before installing your Omnitub
Inspect your carton for damage before removing the Omnitub.
The Omnitub can be damaged if tools or fittings are dropped into it during installation. It is best to cover the tub with an old blanket or thick cloth during installation whenever possible.
Do not stand in the Omnitub without it being supported on a load bearing structure.
If installing an Omnitub Duo you should check the flooring can take the loading without reinforcement. An Omnitub Duo fully filled with water could apply a load of 400kg/ sqm. This is about the same loading as a full traditional cast iron bath would exert.
Ensure that the top of your Omnitub is level. The bottom of your Omnitub is at an angle to the top to allow the water to drain away. If you are mounting the Omnitub on a surface where the trap needs to be above the floor you should construct a sturdy base as shown below. Use 4” x 4” timber or bigger. It is very important to ensure the load is evenly spread across the timber supports so care should be taken to ensure the top surface of the support structure is flat. A good installation can be easily achieved by using a mix of sharp sand and cement 4:1 under your supporting structure or by using a readymade floor screed mixture. It should be mixed to about the same consistency as mortar. This will allow you time to ensure the top is level and the base is sitting firmly on the supporting structure. Do not stand in the tub until the support mixture has set. You should check the water runs away fully before the mixture sets.
Build a support structure for the top of your Omnitub. It is critical the weight is taken at the base and not at the top of the Omnitub.
For safety reasons an overflow should be fitted. If connected to the trap, an ‘extended’ waste & overflow pipe will be needed as the tub is deeper than a standard bath. Omnitub stock an extended pop up waste in chrome.. Details are on the website: www.omnitub.co.uk
If tap holes are required, holes in the fibreglass should be cut with a tank cutter not a brace and bit. Masking tape should be used to prevent the fibreglass splintering.
Care Of The Tub
To clean the tub, please use non-abrasive cleaners (ie) liquid cleaners and a non-scratch scourer. Surface scratches can be removed with T Cut polish.
Unlike acrylic, fibreglass can be buffed up with an electric polisher to regain high gloss if required.
